Do you like hojicha lattes? Of course, I love drinking hojicha on its own, but I also love the gentle flavor of a hojicha latte. The combination of the roasted aroma and the creamy, subtle sweetness of milk is very comforting:)

Actually, this soothing effect of hojicha’s aroma isn’t just your imagination. Pyrazine contained in the aroma of hojicha has been suggested to have effects related to relaxation and sedation. Also, since hojicha contains less caffeine than green tea or coffee, it’s perfect for when you want to relax or for a cozy night in.

I know, you’ve got Nagoya’s lovely hojicha leaves;), let’s make a hojicha latte at home with it! Well, of course, you can make it with any hojicha leaves;p

For a hot version, simply warm the milk in a microwave or a small saucepan before combining it with the hojicha from step 2. It’s just as easy, and perfect on a chilly day:)

The amount of tea leaves really depends on the brand you use and also your personal preference (if you like strong or weak). Please try following this recipe first, and adjust the amount to your taste next time.

The used hojicha leaves can be brewed a second time and still taste great, so please don’t throw them away! — enjoy them as a simple cup of hojicha.

Your local Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Caffè Nero, or favorite café might not serve hojicha latte, but you don’t need to be sad anymore because now you can make it at home;)

Have a happy tea time!
